On a late night in a state of the art
recording studio in Hollywood, CA; Nu Jerzey Devil walks in with a few members
of his entourage and boldly states to the Producer, "Get the track ready
'cuz I'm about to kill it!" With no time to waste, he steps into the booth
and begins to lay down a gritty 16 bars.
You can feel the passion in his voice as he spits out each lyric, each
rhyme, with no hesitation as his flow rides the beat so in sync with the
melody! He steps out of the booth and
tells his artist, Street Kash, "You're up next!"
He
sits down and begins to convey his story of why he chose to enter the
entertainment industry. Born in the
Bronx, New York and raised in Atlantic City, New Jersey; to Puerto Rican parents,
Nu Jerzey Devil is the youngest of six kids.
Realizing his talent for word play at a young age, his older brother
began grooming Jerzey for what inevitably became his true calling. Nu Jerzey Devil entered the music industry as
a DJ and Producer who was signed and mentored by multi-platinum producers, such
as Scott Storch and Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. It was from them that he learned the recipe
for making a hit song. Alongside
Darkchild, Jerzey also began scoring the soundtracks of the 2003 Universal
Pictures film "Honey" and the Miramax film "My Baby's
Daddy". Jerzey found himself
producing records for major artists such Lil Wayne, which only confirmed his
belief that his destiny was to follow his own dream of becoming an
internationally acclaimed recording artist and producer.
As
he decided to move from the East Coast to Los Angeles, CA; Jerzey met a young
rapper by the name of Game who had just gotten signed to Aftermath Records
(Interscope). The pair instantly
connected and began recording "The Black Wall Street Anthem", which
Nu Jerzey Devil produced. Through the
bond he built with Game, Jerzey found himself touring not only stateside, but
all over the world in sold out arenas.
He states, "I'm a proud Latino and I was able to represent for my
culture. My music became accepted by so many different cultures and people from
different walks of life. The support I've received is mind blowing!"
Being
a multi-talented entertainer, In 2010, Jerzey ventured into the world of
cinematography by starting his own film company called LiveliHood Films. He
worked as an Associated Film Producer for Lil Wayne's "The Carter"
DVD, released in 2009. Jerzey began
branding his film company and has directed countless music videos for
independent artists, as well as directing his own music videos. With over 70 of his own music videos being
placed on such popular sites as World Star Hip Hop, Nu Jerzey Devil has branded
himself as a power house artist with an undeniable work ethic!
He
released the following projects back to back in order to appease his fans:
"Art Of War" mixtape in 2007, "Mr. Red Karpet" album in
2009, "Say Now" mixtape in 2010, "Behind Closed Doors" EP
in 2011, "Mr. Red Bottoms" album in 2011, and his latest album
"From The Bottom To The Top" which dropped summer of 2012. "From The Bottom To The Top",
spreads a positive message of being able to overcome any obstacle that stands
before you and emerge victoriously. Nu
Jerzey Devil constantly tells the youth and those who have a dream they are
passionate about to, "Never stop and really master your craft. Don't let
no body try to stop you from accomplishing your dreams!"
Nu
Jerzey Devil is also an intelligent business man. He decided to start his own independent record
label and entertainment company, called LiveliHood Entertainment. With this move, he is now able to sign other
artists and give them a shot at accomplishing their goals. He proudly states, "I'm a Puerto Rican
from humble beginnings, who never thought I'd make it this far. I want to give the next person a chance to
achieve what they thought was unattainable!"
The
future holds a promise of continued success for this young producer, artist, DJ,
film maker, and soon to be actor! He has
a drive that propels him to achieve any and all goals he sets for himself. He is humbled by all the fans he has been
able to obtain throughout the world and thankful for all the support he has
received from his peers and family members.
