Kevin Black's quest into the
entertainment industry had humble beginnings.
He was able to make key connections and became the road manager for Run
DMC. He learned many valuable lessons
about setting up a tour while being on road with Run DMC. After touring around the globe, he was able
to obtain a radio on air job as an over the top personality/Dj on KJLH during
the eighties. Now gaining experience on
the road and making key connections in the world of radio, Kevin Black
proceeded to work for, at the time, the most revered labels on the West Coast;
Death Row Records. He was hired as the
National Promotions Director overseeing 68 employees, managing a $5 million
dollar annual budget, and launching promotional campaigns for such Death Row
Artists as 2Pac, Dr Dre, and Snoop Dog.
Having been one of the pioneers who created "Street Teams",
successfully utilizing grass roots promotions.
Moving on from Death Row Records and
EMI, Kevin Black became the Vice President of Interscope's Rap Department
earning them $600 million in annual revenues.
With his leadership skills and branding expertise he was able to create
national and global awareness for such artists as Eminem, 50 Cents, Black Eyed
Peas, The Game, Gwen Stefani, and Pussy Cat Dolls just to name a few. Many of these artists where able to earn
sales which obtained them platinum placks and Billboard hits. Under Black's leadership, his team was able
to promote 182 records and sold over 120 million copies. Through this successful experience, Kevin
Black was able to garner a prestigious position as Chairman at Warner Brothers
Records. He was able to successfully
create campaigns for artists such as Linkin Park, Madonna, and Cher.
Kevin Black has structured and
implemented successful nationwide and even worldwide promotional and marketing
campaigns in order to launch the careers of artists signed to notable major
labels. His latest venture is one that
is closest to his heart. He is now the
CEO of U Can Fly Hld., which is a company he founded. He utilizes the skills he learned in order to
brand, promote, and market artists as well as major company products. Kevin Black's greatest gift is the portal of
